Syracuse University Wins The 2010 Campus Technology Innovators Award For Ensemble Video
Herkimer, N.Y., July 13, 2010—Annese & Associates, Inc. is thrilled to announce that Syracuse University has been named one of the winners of the 6th annual Campus Technology Awards for Ensemble Video, the enterprise video content management platform, licensed through Symphony Video, Inc. This distinguished award honors higher education institutions world-wide that employ innovative technologies throughout their campuses.
Ensemble Video was developed at Syracuse University in 2007 by Andy Covell, the former Executive Director of IT of the Whitman School of Business. The campus is one of only 11 winners in this year’s competition, out of 484 nominees, making the recognition even more distinctive.
Ensemble Video is an easy and cost-effective solution for uploading, cataloguing, syndicating, and sharing streaming video content. According to Bill Bullen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Symphony Video, Inc., “Ensemble Video is like an Institutional YouTube with the flexibility and controls required in education. YouTube is designed for consumers; Ensemble Video is designed for organizations.”
Annese was an angel investor to Ensemble Video at its inception, and is one of only a select few authorized resellers of the product. In 2009, Annese brought on a new account manager to focus exclusively on commercializing Ensemble Video to districts and campuses across New York State and New England. Annese also occupies a seat on the Symphony Video Board of Directors.
“When we first met Andy Covell of Symphony Video, Inc., we knew immediately that he had a great idea that would prove to have broad utility and value across a wide segment of buyer groups,” says Ray Apy, President and CEO of Annese. “We saw a software development process mature enough to quickly deliver a product for consumption. We saw a pricing strategy that would hold no barrier of entry for interested buyers, and a small group of very dedicated, serious and highly skilled entrepreneurs capable of delivering on the promise. In summary, we saw a winner, and we were pleased to be invited to the table.”
Rick Pollard (pictured right) who is the Assistant Director for Central New York Regional Information Center was one of Annese’s earliest adopters of the innovative software solution.“Ensemble Video has allowed us to bring a user-friendly, secure, video sharing application to our school districts to further technology integration for students and teachers,” acknowledges Rick. “The back-end architecture is robust and scalable, the sharing capabilities are wide-ranging, and the API has allowed us to create custom interfaces based on customer needs.”
Syracuse University will be recognized along with the other winning institutions at the Campus Technology Conference in Boston, July 19th through the 22nd, and will also be spotlighted in further detail in the August issue of Campus Technology magazine.
